A California native, Miguel got his start in music as a teenager, writing songs and performing which led him to sign his first recording contract in 2004. Although things did not go as planned with his first released album, which was shelved by his first label, Black Ice, Miguel vowed always to have control over his career and his music.
He gained popularity and mainstream attention in 2010 when he appeared on J.Cole’s single, “All I Want Is You.” With the release of his debut album “All I Want Is You,” Miguel climbed the charts with his popular singles “Sure Thing” and “Quickie” and became an R&B favorite.
Fast forwarding to 2011, Miguel became apart of the label, RCA where he recorded his following project “Kaleidoscope Dream” and released the project in 2012. The album was an instant hit with popular songs like “Use Me,” “Adorn,” and “How Many Drinks.”
With stardom coming at a fast pace for the singer, Miguel went on to earn a Grammy award in 2013 for best R&B song [Adorn]. The singer has worked with artists like Wale, Mac Miller, Mariah Carey, even Janelle Monae.
With his most recent studio album, “War and Leisure,” Miguel is reaching new heights by combining the two arts of melodic hooks and forward-thinking messages through his songs. With the laid back party song, “Skywalker” [featuring rapper Travis Scott], Miguel is keeping his ears to what the fans love while incorporating conscious lyrics from J.Cole on the popular “Come Thru and Chill.”
Always reinventing himself throughout his career, Miguel aims to inspire his fans and listeners to appreciate all types of music and genres.
